I just downloaded the software and updated it and now i can take pics from my macbook. I didn't realise Nikon zoned thier s/ware by 'Region'. I had to download the v1.0 from the Euro zone site, install, then d/load the updater to 1.3 (again from the euro zone) then all was ok. The v1.0 I had was US and the updater to 1.3 was Euro so they didn't work. I had to install v1 then 'update' to v1.3. Time Lapse is built into Caprture Control Pro and it works on my Mac - just tested it : )Īll sorted for me now. Remember reading you can't do time lapse with the d80 while connected to a pc so I assumed you can't do tethered. Hey i didn't know you can do that with the camera. I'll download the v1.3 and see how it goes. I've just realised that I have version 1.0 and that D80 support was added in cersion 1.3 !!!! Why on earth am I still shown version 1.0 on the Nikon download site? I have wasted half a day looking into this not to mention your time. I get the impression that the D80 isn't fully supported and that I am missing something (see my original post for the Picture Project issue I am having) The LCD panel on the camera top does not show 'PC' as the D70 does so there is something fishy going on here as I am set to PTP on both cameras. Ok, my friend's D70 works ok so it seems the problem is the D80. Just tried a D70 with no problems at all. I do know the USB has to be set to PTP in the D80. I messed around with Capture Control when I first got my D80, but that was almost a year ago and I don't remember everything with it (I also use a PC). Yes you should be using the cable that came with your camera. Can anyone confirm that it is the USB to laptop cable that is supplied that I should be using?ĭ80>Powerbook G4 via supplied USB with Capture Control Pro installed. The D80 is in Auto mode - I just thought that made snse but no luck there. Sorry duggy2, i'm absolutely no help cause i have the same problem with their sofware! now there's 2 of us that need help! lol!ĭid you go to your D80- Set Up Menu - USB - Change mode to PTP?ĭamn! Changed to PTP but still not showing. Originally posted at 2:07AM, 15 September 2007 PST Any idea if I am doing somethign wrong? I am going to cross post this to the Nikon Digital group - hope that's ok? I love Nikon camera and lenses but hate using their software on my Macs. I use spotlight to round up anything that might be Picture Project and move to and then empty trash. A message states that there is already a different region version of Picture Project installed (news to me) and that I need to un-install it first. So I get my CD from my D80 box and begin to load. I visited the Nikon site which kind of suggests (yes - it's a bit ambiguous) that the D80 is supported via Picture Project. I hooked my D80 up to my Powerbook via the USB cable that you use to download pictures from the camera to the laptop (I am assuming that this is the correct way to conect the camera to the laptop for tethered shooting?) The camera does not show up. I downloaded the Nikon Capture Control software and went for the 30 day trial. Since reading this /0/how-to-make-a-photo-booth.
